Lone Working Safety Workshop (for people that work alone): 02 Aug 12

lone-workingAll employers have a duty of care to ensure all lone working members of staff are fully trained and steps are taken to reduce personal safety risks whilst working alone.

The training is designed to ensure staff gain a full understanding of the definition of lone working and appreciate how their actions are accountable under current legislation.  Attendees will learn key tools and techniques to deal effectively with workplace conflict, ensuring their personal safety and in turn building their confidence while working alone.

Who is this workshop recommended for?

All staff / employees who have to work alone; specifically those who have to visit customers or service users off-site or in their home.  Lone working staff (employees) are those who work by themselves without close or direct supervision. This course is designed for those who are experienced at working alone as well as those who are new to it.

Workshop Outline:

The training assists attendees in learning the key elements of Lone Working, Self Awareness and Conflict Management and will help them to develop their knowledge, skills and attitude to effectively manage situations when working alone.

On completion of the training attendees will have a firm understanding and knowledge of skills and techniques to:

  • Develop the knowledge, skills and attitude to effectively manage situations when working alone.
  • Appreciate the legislation and policies in relation to lone working.
  • Apply appropriate risk reduction measures to lone working, workplace violence and aggression including the ability to dynamically assess a situation when working alone, as it unfolds.
  • Recognise behaviour that indicates an escalation towards confrontation taking the appropriate action to calm and defuse the situation.
  • Identify relevant and useful skills and techniques in relation to personal safety when working alone.

This workshop will utilise scenario based learning and realistic case studies which will further enhance the training.

Attendees will be awarded an internal certificate in Lone Working, valid for 2 years.

Over the years Will has had a vast amount of experience within various sectors in dealing with aggressive natures, lone working and personal safety.  He has actively worked with several associations and organisations in implementing this training.  He advocates training which employs realistic and proven skills and techniques, which can help protect the organisation and staff from litigation or damaged reputation.
