Emergency First Aid at Work HSE (NI)
This 1-day course has been designed for employers who have identified a need for First Aider’s within the workplace. The course is approved by HSENI and is delivered by our fully trained instructors. This is the minimum level of First Aid training for the workplace, appropriate for low-risk environments or for those acting in the absence of a fully qualified First Aider.
Who should attend?
For those who have been nominated as Emergency First Aider’s within the workplace or anyone who wishes to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence in dealing with life threatening conditions.
What will I learn?
The course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to deal with situations within any working environment. This includes preventing situations, from becoming worse until help arrives. The course also provides any updates or changes within the regulations.
Course Content:
- Managing Incidents - Resuscitation
- Primary Survey - Secondary Survey
- Unconsciousness - Heart/circulation disorders
- Wounds and Bleeding - Shock
- Fractures - Reports/Recording
Course Duration:
The course is 1-day (6.5 hours), we also can split the course to allow more flexibility; see course dates.
To reduce the level of skill fade and to ensure First Aider’s are fully up to date, HSENI has recommend that a Refresher course (3 hours) should be carried out annually.
Assessment and Certification:
Attendees are continuously assessed throughout the day and on full attendance and successful completion will receive a certificate valid for three years.
