What differentiates Quell from other training providers?

On Conflict Management:

conflict-managementConflict Management training has been delivered using many different methods over time and it has also been described to organisations in various styles. However, it is an excellent subject that can be delivered providing you understand the meaning behind the term ‘Conflict Management’ and appreciate how effective tools can help any organisation that faces any problems internally or externally through abuse, threat and assaults. We as an organisation understand that many face these situations, but there can also be a slight tendency to take them as part of the job or deny they exist.  Unfortunately, if not addressed properly then these can escalate and develop into situations that we can never turn the clock back on.  Our training takes the different roles of the organisation and then we design and implement effective skills to help recognise and reduce the risk of these developing or occurring, therefore ensuring your organisation and members of staff are protected.

On Lone working:

lone-workingInterpretation of the phrase ‘Lone worker’ can be seen as someone that is in total isolation from the beginning of their work until they finish, or they are carrying out a role that has no immediate support available throughout.  However, a lone worker can be anyone that has to work for a period of time alone and without the aide of assistance on hand to help if an incident or a matter of concern arises.  Our approach to this is to give these employees realistic and proven skills to enable them to deal with the situation effectively and therefore leave safely.  Situations that could have a level of physical harm can therefore be dealt with and reduce the risk to the employee and in turn ensures the organisation is covered against any form of allegation of mistreatment or negligence, or not providing proper training as required for the role.

On Dealing with……….:

The area surrounding dealing with………. can be used in a number of different subjects, for instance aggressive people, violent people, customers, telephone calls and staff to mention but a few, but what is it all really about? This subject does break into various areas and the way we approach this sensitive subject is to find out what is the risk staff actually face and then devise the training around that specific risk to ensure everyone benefits from the training we provide. An example of this would be how can you deliver training around “dealing with customers” to staff that need training in “dealing with violent people”? The bottom line is that when we deliver training on this subject we know that you can never deliver a tailored course without knowing the risks, and that is where we differ from other providers as we always ensure our training is directed at your risks.

Before you choose the easier or cheaper option, speak to us first and learn the facts.

On Personal Safety:

personal-safetyWhen we discuss the subject of ‘personal safety’ staff and organisations sometimes are known to follow one or other of the following lines: ‘we will worry about it when it happens’ or ‘it will never happen to me’. Unfortunately, these situations do happen and examples of situations were individuals personal safety can be threatened are, an individual being held within their own car or within someone’s home or business with no clear knowledge of how to deal with the situation.  The subject of Personal Safety should not be taken lightly and for an individual to feel threatened, cornered or trapped is a very serious situation.  We look at simple key tools that will assist anyone in learning how to assess a situation and then use realistic methods on how to leave and at the same time do not escalate the situation, therefore making it accessible to return in the future if necessary.

On Physical Intervention:

physical-intervention_0This is not ‘Control & Restraint’ or any form of Martial Arts, aggressive skills or even the use of a punching bag to incite your aggressive survival skills.  Physical Intervention (PI) is simple, yet effective, non-pain compliant skills.  These can be used by any individual, regardless of age, size and experience, on others to protect themselves safely without encouraging the aggressor to become more violent towards them or a colleague or the organisation.  The techniques we have adopted have been medically & legally assessed and are therefore accredited, whereas a large number of physical techniques are not. These skills have also been specifically designed to suit many different roles within the workplace from security, transport, education, care and health sectors.  It is a highly recognised skill that when combined with conflict management can be another effective tool to protect you, your colleagues, your clients and the industry you are working within.

On Risk Assessing Workplace Violence or Lone Working

I am sure you have heard of risk assessing courses and also probably attended a few hours in the importance of the whole paperwork process, so why bother having to go through more changes? Risk assessing workplace violence and lone working can be an unforeseen problem, because it may have never entered the conversation at work or it’s that favourite taboo subject. We at Quell work with numerous sectors that have not carried out a proper assessment of the risks their staff face in the subjects of workplace violence or lone working.  Therefore when and incident such as a threat or assault has happened they are now unsure if something has been missed by accident or just not known about and they now have to justify this situation without proper support. We are experts in workplace violence and can help you by training your staff to notice the unnoticeable or help with procedures and policies. Take our advice and don’t do a copy and paste of the internet, as it might not hold up in court when you are the one facing the responsibility of an incident.

On Train the Trainer:

train-the-trainerSome people think that training is easy and can be done by anyone, but when you take into account that standing in front of an audience, however small or large the group may be, it is very high on the list of the most disliked things people have to do within their work or personal roles.  Being a trainer is difficult and expectations are high in today’s theatre of training from both the students being trained and the organisations requesting the training and we in Quell agree that this should be the case.  Being a professional trainer is not who wears the best suit or talks the most, but a professional trainer is someone who designs and plans effectively for the presentation and delivery of the material and at the same time makes the experience enjoyable and interesting.  We offer this on all our courses as we do what we preach and whether it is an individual or an organisation that requires our services we always support and help them through the process to enable them to learn and be able to deliver with a higher level of confidence.

On  Security:

security-courses_0We have worked within this Industry for many years and have seen the changes come thick and fast.  We also know that this will continue to be the trend for some considerable time in the future.  Even with these on going developments and changes we have grasped the concepts introduced and made over the years and developed with them.  We fully understand the degree of fears that can be associated with them, inclusive of the concerns many people have from organisations trying to get to grips with the different roles required to operate legally, through to individuals requiring the qualification to gain employment. The requirements are clear and the licensing is strict, but our relationships with all awarding bodies and licensing authorities are strong which ensures we can always deliver.
